Resolved to elect Councillor Elfed Williams as Chair of this Committee for the period 2019-2020

To elect Vice Chair for 2019 - 2020

Resolved to elect Councillor Annwen Hughes as Vice-chair of the Committee for the period of 2019-2020.

To receive any apologies for absence.

Apologies were received from Councillor Siôn Jones          

Councillor Gareth Jones was welcomed as a new member of the General Licensing Committee

No declarations of personal interest were received from any members present.

To note any items that are a matter of urgency in the view of the Chairman for consideration.

A request was made by Councillor Eryl Jones-Williams to discuss and confirm the membership of the panel for vehicle licensing applications outside of policy.  The Licensing Officer noted that the Combined Taxi Policy was being reviewed, but in the meantime weekly applications were made to the panel as officers do not have authority to make decisions.  It was highlighted that the panel comprises three members - usually the Chair, Vice-chair, former chairs or the most experienced member.

RESOLVED to nominate Councillors Elfed Williams, Annwen Hughes and Peter Read as panel members.

The Chairman shall propose that the minutes of the meeting of this Committee, held on 11 April 2019 be signed as a true record.

Following the Committee's decision to nominate members for the terms of reference to consider the contents of the (Draft) Combined Taxi Licensing Policy, the Licensing Officer highlighted that the initial meeting would be organised within six weeks.

Councillor Eryl Jones Williams stated that he wished to stand down as one of the chairs of the Sub-committees and he thanked Members and officers for their support.

Councillor Peter Read thanked Committee members and officers for their support

whilst he had been Chair of the Licensing Committees.
