    Description

Mantell Gwynedd was established in its present form on 10th of August 1997 as a County Voluntary Council.  It is one of 19 County Voluntary Council throughout Wales and operates across the whole of Gwynedd.  Whilst it forms part of a network of Wales Association of County Voluntary Councils it is itself a separate legal entity.  Mantell Gwynedd is a company limited by guarantee and registered in Wales (Company Number 3420271). It is also a Registered Charity (charity number 1068851).

The main aim of Mantell Gwynedd is to promote and support the third sector in the county.  It does this by providing direct individual support to groups on constitutional matters as well as financial and legal matters.  It also provides training and information and facilitates responses to consultations on behalf of the third sector.  It works as a strong and independent lobbying body representing the interests of the third sector in the county.

Mantell Gwynedd benefits from being a partner in the Wales Partnership Agreement.  This is an agreement between the Government of Wales, Wales Council for Voluntary Action and County Voluntary Councils across Wales.  The Partnership Agreement recognises these three partners as the infrastructure for the third sector in Wales.

Mantell Gwynedd currently has over 1800 third sector organisations on its database.  It is a member of all strategic partnerships in the county, including the Local Service Board.  It provides a strong independent voice for the third sector on these partnerships.
